Abstract
924,819. Two-part couplings. AMP Inc. Nov. 27, 1961 [Dec. 8, 1960], No. 42306/61. Class 38 (1). A connector pin (Fig. 1) comprises a ferrule 4 for permanent attachment to a conductor and a pin portion 2 for making a releasable connection to a socket in a terminal block, the whole pin being formed from a sheet-metal blank and the pin part being formed from part of the blank folded into a substantially solid and uniform cross-section having one side 14 (Fig. 3) substantially flat to form a contact surface for a holding screw in the terminal block and a side 12 rounded to match the curvature of the socket. In another embodiment (Fig. 4, not shown) the ferrule 4 is surrounded by an insulating sleeve 16 and a copper sheath 18 which both project beyond one end of the ferrule and are crimped on to the conductor insulation. The connection between the ferrule and the conductor is effected by either crimping or soldering.
