Abstract

920,136. Injectors. WALTER KIDDE CO. Ltd. March 22, 1961 [March 23, I960], No. 10496/61. Class 71. [Also in Group XXIX] Inflation apparatus for an inflatable bag B, Fig. 2, comprises a compressed gas storage 11, Fig. 1, (not shown), and discharge nozzles 15 positioned to entrain air by directing gas into at least one throat 21 having non-return valves 16, the gas being directed by a valve 40, Fig. 4, to the nozzles until the storage gas pressure drops to a predetermined value whereon the remaining gas is directed through a separate by-pass conduit 68 to the bag. A latch 67 is withdrawn to allow a spring-urged actuator member 64 to unseat pilot valve member 58, whereby compressed gas in chamber 48 is vented and the main valve member 49 is unseated to deliver gas through conduit 19 to chamber 30, and thence through tubes 31 to nozzles 34. When the storage gas pressure drops to about 300 p.s.i. valves 49, 16 are closed by springs 51 and 37 and gas pressure is directed to the bag via apertures 50, 65, outlet 62, conduit 68 and port 69.
