Abstract

860,987. Bottling. U. D. ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. May 7, 1959 [July 4, 1958], No. 21583/58. Class 125(2). Filling apparatus comprises a reservoir 10, a filling conduit 13 mounted on the base of the reservoir to be reciprocated therefrom by a stub 8 being held in a spring controlled mount 9, a valve comprising an elastic seat 18 which encircles to grip in its closed position the conical portion 29 of a valve head but is opened on engagement with a bottle neck to form a passage together with,ports 35 in a flange 31 for the liquid to enter the bottle, and a vent tube 36 passing through the valve head. The flange in which are the liquid ports 35 has a conical top surface 32 with a groove 34 underneath. In a modification both the flange surface may be flat and the valve seat may have may cumferential groove around its lower part so that this groove may close to provide resilience if the bottle is pushed past the wideopen position of the valve. The vent tube has blades 39 to position it in the conduit and a weight 37 tends to move it downwardly.
