860,296. Inflatable cushions &c. NAIL, W. P. Oct. 6, 1958, No. 31865/58. Class 52(4). [Also in Groups I and XXXIII] An inflatable article such as a hassock comprises a bottom 1 and top 2 and annular sidewall 3 of plastic, the top and bottom each being formed of two layers 5 of flexible material between which is a stiff sheet or plate 6. In a modification Fig. 3 a frusto-conical hassock 19 has a stiffening member 24 laminated to top wall 23 and bottom wall has an outer rigid ring 25 and an inner rigid ring 26 embedded therein. In another embodiment Fig. 5 forming the back and arms of a chair U-shaped stiffening members 38 are secured between layers 39 of flexible material to form the top and bottom formations 49 x 1. In a further embodiment Fig. 6 applied to a seat the rigid plate-like members 44, 45 are incorporated in the upper and lower seat-walls 46, 47 and members 48, 49 are incorporated in the front and rear walls 50, 51 of the back rests.
