An automatically locking slider for a sliding clasp fastener comprises a slider body 1 having two shields 5, 6 joined together a neck portion 11 of a shape to form a channel for fastener members between the shields, one of the shields 6 carrying means 12 holding a cap-like attaching member 3 which is unitary with a flat spring 35 bearing against a locking member 2 pivotally housed within the attaching member, the spring urging a locking finger 22 of the locking member into the said channel, a pull member 4 being attached to the attaching member and co-operating with the .locking member for retracting the locking finger against the action of the spring when a pull is exerted on the pull member. The locking member pivots about a fulcrum portion 23 which engages a recess 17 in the neck portion 11 and the locking finger 22 projects through a slot 16 into the channel. The holding means 12 comprise two lugs each of which is provided with two recesses 13 for engaging prongs 33 on the attaching member. Adjacent each lug and unitary therewith are two buttresses 14 each having a cam surface 15 for guiding the pull member 4. The pull member has an attaching portion 42 which passes through recesses 34 in the attaching member to engage an elongated slot 21 in the locking member so that when the pull member is pulled either in opening or closing the fastener, it rides up one of the other of the cam surfaces 15 and pivots the locking member against the pressure of the spring 35 so that the locking finger is moved out of engagement with the fastener members.
