Abstract

Class 108(3) [Also in Groups XVII and XXX] A cradle 12, 13, Fig. 1, for tipping drums 16 by gravity about an axis 11 (see Group XXX) is damped by a hydro-pneumatic cylinder 17 with a hollow piston 18 having an orifice disc 22, Fig. 4, at its inner end. On the inward stroke, oil flows at a controlled rate through the orifice and compresses air in the upper end of the piston, and on the return stroke the disc lifts from its seating 23 to allow a faster flow. A residual air pressure is maintained by means of a valve 24.
