Abstract

The invention comprises 2-amino-4:6-di-p-amidinoanilinotriazine D(-) - di - p - toluoyltartrate and the preparation thereof by reacting 2 - amino - 4:6 - di - p - amidinoanilino - s - triazine, or an acid addition salt thereof, with D(-)-di-p-toluoyl-tartaric acid or by effecting a metathetical reaction between an acid addition salt of the base and a salt of the acid.ALSO:The invention includes a pharmaceutical preparation especially useful for the treatment of trypanosomiasis which comprises 2-amino-4 : 6 - di - p - amidinoanilinotriazine D(-) - di - p-toluoyltartrate in association with a significant proportion of a pharmaceutical carrier. A preferred composition is in the form of an aqueous suspension of the active salt, containing at least 0.025% by weight of the salt for injection or at least 0.1% for oral administration.
