Abstract

800,488. Motor scooters. NSU WERKE AKT.-GES. Jan. 16, 1957 [Jan. 20, 1956], No. 1601/57. Classes 79(3) and 136(3) A motor scooter frame comprises a main tubular member 2 which extends from the steering column 1 to the support for the rear wheel suspension at 3 and a saddle carrying member 4 which is connected with the main member 2 at 3 and 5. The fuel tank 6 is held between the rear part 7 of the member 2 and the saddle carrying member 4 in rubber pads 8, 9 placed around the members 2, 4. To prevent the tank from being laterally displaced its upper surface is formed with a ridge which fits between two tubes which form the saddle carrying member 4. The member 4 may also carry a pillion and may be rearwardly extended for the attachment of a carrier. The forward part of the power unit may be suspended from the frame by a link 11, a telescopic leg 14 being provided between the flexibly mounted rear wheel 13 and the frame. Alternatively, the engine may be fixed to the frame and a flexibly swinging suspension provided only for the rear wheel and the gearing.
