Abstract

709,774. Watches. FELSA AKT.-GES. Feb. 20, 1952 [March 14, 1951], No. 4471/52. Class 139 A timepiece movement with an automatic winding mechanism comprising an oscillating weight is characterized in that it includes a differential gear operatively connected between the barrel and the barrel arbor for driving a member by the barrel in one direction of rotation and by the barrel arbor in the other direction, a locking device for the oscillating weight, and an actuating member moving the locking device into engagement with the oscillating weight upon rotation of the driven member in one direction and moving the locking device away from engagement with the oscillating weight upon opposite rotation of the driven member to prevent overwinding. A lever 28, Fig. 1, pivoted on a pin 29 is connected by a pin and slot 26, 27 to the end 23 of a spring 22 the other end 24 of which is attached to the collar 21 of a lever 20 mounted on a pin 19. The end of the lever 20 lies adjacent a projection 15 on a cam disc 14 and the end of the spring 22 abuts a pin 30 on the pin 29. The two parts 23, 24 of the spring 22 are interconnected by a curved part 25. The disc 14 is fixed to a sleeve 10 rotatable round a pin 11. Rigid with the sleeve 10, Fig. 2, is a sun wheel 12 and rotatable round the sleeve 10 is a sun wheel 9 rigid with a drive wheel 8 which meshes with pinion 3 fixed to the barrel arbor 4. Two intermeshing planet pinions 13 one of which engages the sun, wheel 9 and the other the sun wheel 12 are rotatably carried by a drive wheel 5 which meshes with a pinion 2 fixed to the barrel 1. The arrangement is such that if the weight 18 is driving the barrel arbor 4 through means not shown the disc 14 is rotated anti-clockwise and if the barrel 1 is being rotated by the mainspring the disc 14 is rotated clockwise. The lever 28, Fig. 1, has two notches 32, 33 which may be brought into engagement with either of two pins 35, 34 on the weight 18 to lock it. In operation, with the weight 18 locked in the position shown in Fig. 1 the disc 14 is rotated clockwise so that its projection 15 moves the lever 20 anti-clockwise so flexing the spring 22 until it snaps away from the pin 30 and moves the lever 28 clockwise to free the weight 18. The mainspring is then wound by the weight and the disc 14 is rotated anti-clockwise so that its projection 15 moves the lever 20 clockwise to again flex the spring 22 until it snaps from the pin 30 and moves the lever 28 anticlockwise against a stop, not shown, so that either of the pins 34, 35 on the weight may be engaged by either of the notches 33, 32 to again lock the weight 18. In another arrangement, Fig 4, not shown, the lever 28 carries one pin which may engage in any of a plurality of notches in the weight. Specification 709,775 is referred to.
