Abstract
703,959. Heating and cooling vehicles. VAPOR HEATING CORPORATION. Feb. 8, 1952 [Feb. 16, 1951], No. 3419/52. Class 64(2) [Also in Group XXXV] The temperature of the interior of a motor bus is controlled by blowing air over either a heater coil or a refrigerating coil (manually selected), the proportion of outside air to recirculated air being controlled by a first thermostat responsive to bus temperature, and the supply of hot water to the heater coil being controlled by a second thermostat responsive to bus temperature, the first thermostat being biased to operate at a lower temperature than the second when heating and vice versa when cooling. The outside air is drawn in at the front of the bus and passes down a central duct 19 to a blower 22, cooler 23, and heater 24. Air from within the bus is drawn into the duct 19 past a motor-driven' damper 28 which in its extreme positions closes the duct either to the outside air or to the recirculated air. The treated air passes into the bus through ducts 26, Fig. 2, arranged in the roof. The heater 24 is supplied with hot water from the bus engine through a control valve 37. The cooler 23 is unspecified.
