Abstract
682,310. Drying air. BOUDOU, J. L. R. March 16, 1949 [Feb. 16, 1948], No. 4543/48. Class 34 (i) [Also in Group VI] In a hair-drying apparatus, air may be forced through air-drying material and past an electric heater to an outlet, or alternatively it may be heated before passing through the drying material, the heated air then regenerating the material. As shown in Fig. 2, a casing 1a contains two chambers 20, 21, of air-dehumidifying material, through which air is forced by a common fan or blower 6 driven by an electric motor. Air heated by heater 23 passes to chamber 20, is further heated by heater 41 and is exhausted to atmosphere, thus drying the material in the chamber. Air passing through chamber 21 is dried by the material therein and then passes over a heater 15a to an outlet pipe 34 and hood 5 or other air distributor. Operation of valves 26, 27, reverses the conditions in the chambers and also switches the heating elements. In modifications, a separate blower may be provided for each chamber and the air may flow downwards through the chamber and up through an annular passage to the outlet pipe. In a further modification only one chamber is provided, regeneration being effected after use for hairdrying. Specifications 357,812, [Group III], 448,359; 641,305, 644,644, [both in Group VI],and 654,977 are referred to.
