Abstract

648,669. Hair driers. SMITH, E. E., [nÚe ELDER]. Nov. 19, 1948, No. 30140. [Class 81(ii)] The hood of a hair drier is formed with spaced inner and outer shells, the latter having a series of ports through which dry gas is supplied to the intervening space, and a motor-driven means for circulating air through the space. In the form described, the outer shell 24 has ports 43, and dried gas from a pipe 14 is fed to these by means of a conduit 41 so as to mix with a stream of air circulated by a fan 28 and passed into the head space through orifices 26. Heating coils 44 are placed adjacent to the gas inlets and a vent 40 is provided for the gradual removal of saturated air. The hood is mounted on a suitable support pillar and gas is supplied from an adjacent cylinder, the outlet valve of which may be under the control of the user by means of a conveniently placed operating handle, see Fig. 1 (not shown),
