Abstract
613,892. Making centrifugal impellers. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, & CIE. June 28, 1946, No. 19361. Convention date, July 9, 1945. [Class 83 (ii)] Centrifugal blowers for supercharging internalcombustion engines and having any desired delivery volume, are made by producing housings in a series of stepped sizes, in which the ratio of the minimum delivery volume of one size of housing to that of the next smaller size amounts to at least 1.25, producing, for each size of housing, a large number of identical impellers and identical diffusers, adapted to deliver the minimum volume, and then machining the inlet edges of the blades of the impeller or the diffuser, or both, to increase the delivery of each blower to the volume required. The impeller 1 could be machined to, say, the plane B-B, or the diffuser 13, Fig. 4, to a cylindrical surface G-G, or both parts 1 and 13 could be machined.
