Abstract

557,118. Vehicle wheels. PRESTON, Ltd., I., and PRESTON, F. R. June 27, 1942, No. 8885. [Class 144 (i)] [Also in Group XXII] A barrow or truck wheel is made by crossing and welding together diametral strips b, c, d forming spokes and welding the ends to a rim a formed by bending strip metal and butt welding the ends. The spoke strips are holed to receive the axle g, and may be assembled between bosses e, f having appropriate recesses to receive them. The axle is preferably secured by electrically upsetting it to produce collars l, and one of the spokes may be provided with a notch to form a key with the axle to prevent relative rotation.
