Abstract

542,671. Turning. WARING, F. E. July 20, 1940, No. 11953. [Class 83 (iii)] A lathe has a bar bed 12 supported in "A" frames 10 and carrying a tool carrier 15 which is rocked on the bed to feed the tools transversely of the work. The headstock spindle 14 is carried on brackets 13 located one on either side of the left hand frame. The tool carrier is located between clamped-on brackets 17, 18, the latter of which has an extension 19 serving as a bearing for a screwed spindle 20 operated by a hand wheel 21 and serving to apply the feed movement to the carrier which may be limited by stops carried by the arm 19. The tool bar 16 which may be fitted with a socket carrying one or more cutting tools is movable axially from a wheel 23 through a member 25 which is mounted so that it permits rocking movement of the tool bar.
