[Classes 75 (ii) and 75 (iv)] A luminair comprises a prismatic reflector 17 extending below the light source, a light shield 25 screening the part of the reflector 17 below the level of the light source and a prismatic closure 24 preferably integral with the shield and secured to the reflector by tension members 29 fixed across the closure and a clamping ring 34 engaging the reflector rim. The reflector is detachably secured by screws 12 to a lamp bulb holder 10. The luminair may either be suspended from a ceiling or secured in a recess therein by means of a ceiling ring 38. To facilitate relamping (i) the closure 24 may have a removable part 22 or (ii) the tension members may be detachably secured to the shield outside the reflector by tension hooks connected by rods to the holder 10 and engaging eyelets on the shield or (iii) the combined shield and closure, Fig. 6, may be detachably secured as shown to a harp 55 pivotally suspended from brackets 54 on a holder 51. The shield may also be of metal and secured in position by a flanged clip pressing between itself and a flanged base on the shield abutting rims projecting outwardly from the reflector and closure, such rims permitting also some external illumination of the shield. The closure prisms are preferably light concentrating.
