Abstract
497,787. Gas-proof enclosures. JOHNSON, D. C. CROOM-. March 25, 1937, Nos. 8894 and 21626. [Class 20 (i)] A gas - raid shelter comprises a flexible enclosure 1 with an integral floor portion 4 which is provided with an opening 6 having quick closing means 7, such as a sliding fastening and which due to its resting position on the ground, is capable of easy sealing with strip adhesive by the occupants. The enclosure may be kept distended by a, light framework and is provided with rings at its upper edges whereby it may be suspended by ropes 11, 12, Fig. 3, from the upper corners of a room. In one modification, the floor is provided with an extension having the entrance opening therein, while in another, as shown in Fig. 5, the opening may extend around one side and end of the floor and be provided with an integral flap 27 which can be placed over the closing means and be sealed at its other edge.
