Abstract
398,941. Multiple fastenings. WOOD, W. G., 219, Mansel Road, Small Heath, and TRIPPAS, A. W., 196, Colonial Road, Bordesley Green, both in Birmingham. April 23, 1932, No. 11702. [Class 44.] A multiple fastening for doors and the like consists of two spring- pressed bolts 18, 19 operated by a rotatable disc 11 and held withdrawn by a spring- pressed pivoted catch 23 which engages with a notch 27 in the disc and is disengaged by a slam bolt 29 when the door is closed. The disc 11 is turned by a handle or by a square key. One or more subsidiary latches 33 may be provided. The latch 33, Fig. 4, is pivoted on the face plate 16 and is rocked by a pin 36 or an inclined surface on the bolt 18 engaging with the tail 35 of the latch. Alternatively, the latch 33 may be pivoted on the bolt 18 and it may be spring-pressed. By suitable linkage, the bolts 18, 19 may be arranged to project through openings in the face plate 16. The fastening may be used to secure an aeroplane wing to the body of the machine.
