Abstract
378,474. Knitting. PRESTON, E. E., 28, Melrose Street, Leicester. Feb. 14, 1931, No. 4735. [Class 74 (ii).] Circular warp machines of the type described in Specification 320,189, [Class 74 (ii), Knitting &c.], are provided with a pair of yarn-laying rings which lay one set of yarns S so that they are knitted and the other set R between the set S and the needles so that they remain unknitted. The selvages may be held out by points 33, Fig. 12 (not shown), to form ornamental loops by which the product can be sewn to garments &c. The yarns are drawn under or over roughened rollers 4, Fig. 4 (not shown), mounted on adjustable spring pivots which put on tension of variable amount. The operation is so timed that the yarns are moved back while the needles are down, the needles rise and have the yarns S laid in their hooks and then fall to knit and knock over. The yarns R are then shogged say three needle spaces. In the following cycle the yarns R, S are shogged equal amounts in the reverse directions.
