Abstract
298,484. Hofmann, F., and Wulff, C. Oct. 6, 1927, [Convention date]. Tar.-Low temperature tars are refined by a concentrated. solution of hydrogen chloride in an organic solvent. The tar may previously be treated with gaseous or aqueous hydrogen chloride. Solvents specified are benzine and methyl or ethyl, alcohol. Specification 189,701, [Class 91, Oils &c.], is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes the use of carbon tetrachloride. benzene, or light oil as solvent; it is not limited as to the strength of the solution. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
