Abstract

284,312. Akt.-Ges. der Maschinenfabriken Escher, Wyss, et Cie. Jan. 29, 1927, [Convention date]. Axial - flow type; blades.-Between every two of the main blades 4 of the rotor 1 of an axial-flow steam turbine, one or more intermediate blades 5 are secured to the shroudring 6 and extend to within a certain distance of the blade roots where they are rigidly secured to the blading by suitable means. These means may be a wire 7, soldered or welded to the blades, or a wire 8 with distance sleeves 9, soldered or welded to the blades. T h e s e intermediate blades assist in guiding the steam at the parts where the pitch t1 of the blades is considerably greater than the pitch t2 at the blade roots.
