Abstract
270,723. Soc. Anon. Constructions Electriques Patay. May 7, 1926, [Convention date]. Driving, balancing; oscillations, preventing. - A centrifugal machine has a drum a, which may be a drying pot or the like, mounted on the top end of a spindle b supported at the middle of its length by a swivel bearing c. The outer frame of the bearing c is supported by a rubber ring h and the whole is enclosed in an air-tight casing i. The lower end of the spindle is connected by a spring c, or other elastic member, to the shaft f of the driving motor. In a modification, the motor shaft is hollow and surrounds the lower part of the spindle b. the play between the spindle b and the motor shaft f may be limited by a clutch one plate l of which is secured to the spindle b and the other k to the shaft f; the clearance between the teeth m, n permits the spring e to absorb the shocks of starting and stopping oscillation.
