Abstract

235,307. Burndept, Ltd., and Phillips, C. F. March 12, 1924. Thermionic amplifiers.-Retro-action through the capacity of the valve or valves is prevented by means of a capacitative but non-inductive damping resistance connected between the input or output electrode and a tuned circuit. The Figure shows resistances r<1>, r<2> of the order of 5 to 10000 ohms connected between the plates of valves v<1>, v<2> and tuned anode circuits C, i<1>, i<3>. Alternatively, or in addition, similar resistances may be inserted in the connections to the grids of the valves. The resistance preferably comprises wire wound upon a brass or copper rod or tube and the self capacity of the order 10 to 200 mmfds is adjusted bv varying the gauge of the wire used. The values of the condensers, resistances and battery potentials employed in the circuit are stated in the Specification.
