Abstract

An additional visor is attached via a spring clip and ball joint to an existing vehicle visor. Two such additional visors may be attached to both ends of the existing visor. Spectacles comprising the additional visor are also disclosed.

Description

" ADDITIONAL VISORS" THE INVENTION RELATES TO ADDITIONAL VISORS VISORS ARE WELL KNOWN AS DEVICES TO PROTECT FROM GLARE OR OTHER OBSTRUCTIONS TO VISION. THIS INVENTION RELATES PARTICULARLY TO SUN VISORS IN VEHICLES. THE MAIN VISOR AT PRESENT IN USE TRADITIONALLY PROTECTS TO THE FRONT AND OFF SIDE,THIS HOWEVER LEAVES A VULNERABLE POINT TO THE DRIVERS NEAR SIDE, AND WHEN THE MAIN VISOR IS DEPLOYED TO THE OFF SIDE THIS TENDS TO CREATE GLARE TO THE FRONT.
ACCORDING TO THE PRESENT INVENTION, THERE IS PROVIDED A UNIT OR UNITS, COMPRISING A MAIN COMPONENT IN THE FORM OF A UNIVERSALLY ADJUSTABLE ADDITIONAL VISOR WITH A CRANKED BALL JOINT FIXING( OR ANY SUITABLE ALTERNATIVE) FIG 1 THIS IN TURN FIXES TO A SECOND COMPONENT FIG 2 WHICH IS A SPRING CLIP (OR ANY SUITABLE ALTERNATIVE) ALLOWING THE ADDITIONAL VISOR TO BE FIXED TO THE MAIN VISOR. THIS CONFIGURATION ALLOWS THE ADDITIONAL VISOR TO FOLD FLAT ON TOP OF THE MAIN VISOR WHEN NOT REQUIRED FIG 3 THE ADDITIONAL VISOR MAIN COMPONENT ALSO APPLIES TO A NEWLY MANUFACTURED SUN VISOR WHICH WOULD BE EMBODIED AT BOTH ENDS, GIVING TWO WAY PROTECTION,HINGING WOULD BE DIFFERENT. THE SAME WOULD APPLY TO A MAIN COMPONENT BEING APPLIED TO SPECTACLES, SUNGLASSES AND THE LIKE. A SPECIFIC EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION WILL NOW BE DESCRIBED BY WAY OF EXAMPLE, WITH REFERENCE TO THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWING.
FIG 1 SHOWS THE MAIN COMPONENT AND CRANKED BALL JOINT.
FIG 2 SHOWS THE SPRUNG CLIP WHICH WILL HAVE THE HOUSING FOR THE BALL JOINT.
FIG 3 SHOWS THE ADDITIONAL VISOR FOLDED AWAY,IN RELATION TO THE MAIN VISOR IN THE UP POSITION.
FIG 4 SHOWS THE ADDITIONAL VISOR FOLDED AWAY,IN RELATION TO MAIN VISOR IN THE DOWN POSITION, ADDITIONAL VISOR NOT DEPLOYED.
FIG 5 SHOWS THE ADDITIONAL VISOR DEPLOYED AND FULLY OPEN, IN RELATION TO A MAIN VISOR IN THE DOWN POSITION REFERRING TO THE DRAWING, THE ADDITIONAL VISOR COMPRISES THE MAIN COMPONENT FIGI, AND THE SECOND COMPONENT FIG 2, A SPRUNG CLIP WHICH EASILY ATTACHES ITSELF TO A MAIN VISOR ON A TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT BASIS. ALTERNATIVE FIXING ARRANGEMENTS ARE AVAILABLE IF REQUIRED, FOR EXAMPLE NUT AND BOLT, RIVET, ADHESIVE OR SINILAR MEANS (NOT SHOWN). ADVANTAGE WOULD BE GAINED FROM FIXING ADDITIONAL VISOR TO EITHER END OF A MAIN VISOR.
IN ORDER TO POSITION THE ADDITIONAL VISOR IN PLACE, THE MAIN VISOR IS LOWERED, AND ADDITIONAL VISOR IS CLIPPED IN POSITION, REPRESENTED IN FIG 4 THE MAIN COMPONENT CAN THEN BE MOVED INTO AN INFINITE NUMBER OF POSITIONS FIG 5 TO BLOCK THE EFFECT OF BLINDING OR GLARING SUNLIGHT, HEADLIGHT GLARE THROUGH THE REAR MIRROR CAN BE ELIMINATED AND STILL ALLOW THE USE OF THE REAR VIEW MIRROR, GLARE FROM INTERIOR LIGHTS CAN BE ELIMINATED AND DRIVING CAN TAKE PLACE SAFELY AND COMFORTABLY WITH LIGHT ON. TO STOW AWAY REVERSE PROCEDURE FIG3.
IN A NEWLY MANUFACTURED SUN VISOR, AN ADDITIONAL MAIN COMPONENT WOULD BE INTEGRALLY FITTED TO BOTH ENDS AS IN FIG 5 PLUS AN ADDITIONAL VISOR ON THE OPPOSITE END ALSO.
