Connecting uppers to insoles and soles.-A combined filler and reinforcing sole 12 is employed with a welted shoe having a ribbed insole 2 so that the filler fits snugly within the sewing-rib 6. The marginal portion 14 of the reinforcing sole is bevelled outwardly so as to be substantially invisible at the edge of the completed shoe, and the outsole stitching passes through this marginal portion. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 17886/03.
