Abstract
1528642 Bobbin changing in open-end spinning W REINERS VERWALTUNGS-GmbH 13 Jan 1976 [17 Jan 1975] 01168/76 Headings DID and D1J In a multi station open end spinning machine when a full take up bobbin is produced a travelling bobbin changer 35 is signalled and the work station 11 is stopped, the bobbin changer being provided with a joining bobbin 68, 138 from which a thread end is carried by a guiding element 57 to the spinning device 12 which is then re-started, the newly spun thread being fixed to an empty bobbin tube supplied by the bobbin changer and the thread from the joining bobbin 68, 138 being separated. As shown in Fig. 1, the changer 35 is stopped by a rod 38 which operates a switch 40 on the changer when extended by a signal from a bobbin size sensor 119. The bobbin carrying arms 25 are released and the bobbin is pushed by arm 53 onto a surface 112 down which it rolls to a conveyor 113. An empty bobbin tube 133 is then carried to the arms 25 by an arm 95. The guide arm 57 then carries the joining thread end retained by a clamp 60 to the spinning device 12 by drawing thread from a large thread store 70. At the same time a small thread store 71 accumulates a short thread length which is subsequently released to be sucked into the spinning rotor 13 and re-start spinning. As new thread is spun, guide arm 57 returns carrying the new thread past the empty bobbin tube end where it is clamped by the carrying arms 25 and returning most of the joining thread to the large store 70. Meanwhile a guide 47 has been extended and deflects the new thread to a thread catching end of the empty bobbin tube. Cutters 106 and 101 now separate the joined section of yarn which is removed by a suction nozzle 121. In an alternative embodiment. Fig. 6, a smaller thread joining bobbin 138 is employed which is mounted on the thread guide arm 141. This dispenses with the need for the large thread store. The small thread store 142 is provided by an arm. 144 which cooperates with two guides 139, 140 on the thread guide arm 141.
