Abstract

1494465 Absorption material HERMANN WEGENER 12 April 1976 14841/76 Headings C1A and C1J [Also in Division B1] A material for removing environmentally harmful gases, such as sulphur oxides, hydrogen sulphide, hydrogen halides and/or mercaptans from waste gases comprises limestone burnt at 400‹ C., ground to 20-50 Á, combined with boric acid or borates and liquid sodium or potassium metasilicates, and the mixture granulated to 0À4-2 mm. before heating to 190-450‹ C. The material may additionally contain chrysotile asbestos, asbestos fibres or magnesium silicates in 10-15% by wt., having a preferred particle size of 20-50 Á.
