Abstract

1453971 Invalid chairs BATH INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL ENG 8 Jan 1974 [16 Jan 1973] 2235/73 Addition to 1363229 Heading A4J A chair for helping invalids to stand comprises at each side of the chair a quadrilateral linkage 116, 118, 119 which is spring-biased into a raised position by springs 131 connected between the two longer links 116, 118 of the linkage, tilting of the seat during movement of the linkage being controlled by a lever 136 rotatable about its pivotal connection 137 with the upper link 116 through the action of a roller 139 on the lower link 118 and carrying a roller 138 which engages the undersurface of the seat 112. A spring-biased catch 142-143 engages a pin 141 on the lower link to hold the quadrilateral linkage in the lowered position.
