1441571 Liquid crystal compositions DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 9 Nov 1973 [9 Nov 1972 16 July 1973] 38449/75 and 38450/75 Divided out of 1433130 Heading C4X [Also in Division H4] A liquid crystal material comprises a liquid crystal mixture or solution containing a compound which is one of the following: (a) (b) a laterally substituted derivative of a compound of the above formula; or (c) a derivative of a compound of the above formula having a bridging group bridging any two ortho positions on adjacent phenyl rings of the structure, wherein m is equal to zero or one, X is an alkyl, alkoxy or alkanoyloxy group having two or more C atoms, and Y is NO 2 or an alkaanoyloxy group different from X.
