Abstract

1440461 Packages UNILEVER Ltd 27 June 1973 [28 June 1972] 30502/73 Heading B8C A package 2 formed from a thermoplastics sheet has a longitudinal seam 4a and intersecting transverse seams 3a, each seam being an inset heat-seal with external fin portions 6a, 7a, and having a cut 9a in the fin portion directed towards a corner between a longitudinal and transverse seam to partially project into one of these seams. The lug portions 10a so defined is grasped to tear open the package along the longitudinal seam. An alternative position of the cut is shown in Fig. 2. The thermoplastics sheet is preferably of a polyamide/polyethylene composite.
