Abstract

879,135. Cartons for liquids. PACKAGE FORMING MACHINERY CO. Ltd. Dec. 15, 1958 [June 16, 1958], No. 40413/58. Class 18. The blank, Fig. 1, folded as shown in Fig. 3, is treated on one or both sides with polyethylene or vinyl in combination with, or without, a wax to form a thermo-plastic heat sealing coating. Triangular portions 8, 9 abut when the carton is folded and are sealed to the walls 6. Corner portions 12 are folded inwards to form gussets. A sealing flap 14 has an opening tab 15 and may be line sealed to the side 3 or may be sealed to a flap 22, Fig. 1. In a modification, Fig. 7, the gussets are cut away at 20 and a cut 21 in the flap 14 enables the flap to engage behind the portions 12 when the flap is tucked inside the side 3. The outside of the carton may carry advertising material. The carton may be overwrapped.
