Abstract

1421293 Locks A TACK and F GABEL 2 Feb 1973 [8 Feb 1972] 5232/73 Heading E2A The pivoted latch-bolt 20 of a vehicle door is contained in a housing B, 13, 14 secured on the outside of the door end panel 11 by the same bolts (through holes 17, Fig. 5) as secure the lock mechanism housing A. The latch housing has a passage 12 into which the keeper 32 on the door post may enter to engage the bolt. The bolt is connected to its operating and locking mechanism (Fig. 2, not shown) inside the door by a pin 22 working through a slot 23 in the door end instead of being so connected through its pivot pin 19, as is more usual. Rattling may be prevented by a buffer 30 loaded by a spring 31 to bear against the underside of the keeper 32. Alternatively, the keeper shank may have sprung faces 34, 35, for this purpose. This may take various forms (Figs. 9-17, not shown).
