Abstract

1400866 Spreader attachment for fork lift truck TOWMOTOR CORP 29 Sept 1972 [1 Oct 1971] 45131/72 Heading B8H An adjustable spreader for attachment to a fork lift truck (with or without forks) comprises a support frame 14 which mounts a beam 20 with further beams 22 telescopically mounted in the ends thereof, each further beam 22 pivotally mounts a load support beam 24 having twist locks 26 to engage the top corner castings of a container. Two pairs of hydraulic jacks 26, 28 are mounted within the beams 20, 22 to effect extension and retraction of the further beams 22 and the jacks of each pair are interconnected by a slider 42. A damper 34 is connected between the further beams 22 and the associated load support beam 24. In a modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), a further beam (64) is inserted between the beams 20, 22 and a suitable arrangement of hydraulic jacks are arranged to effect the extension and contraction thereof.
