Abstract

1385664 Electric coupling ELCO CORP 10 May 1973 [10 May 1972] 22427/73 Heading H2E In a connector holding printed circuit cards and comprising cardedge connectors mounted by means of rectangular section pins forced into holes in a metal plate but insulated by thermoplastic sleeves, metal sleeves are slipped over the emerging pins whenever contact with the metal plate is required, before completing connection by wire wrapping. A sharp tapered cylindrical edge 26 is slipped outside the insulating sleeve, and on applying force by press or hammer blow to shoulder 36 the metal sleeve enters the plate, the fluted periphery engages the hole in the plate, the spring fingers 32 engage the flanks but not the sharp edges of the pin, and finally the internal shoulder 30 engages the projecting insulating sleeve. The metal sleeve may be withdrawn with pliers.
