1305548 Thioureas SMITH KLINE & FRENCH LABORATORIES Ltd 26 Oct 1970 [29 Oct 1969] 13449/72 Divided out of 1305546 Heading C2C Novel compounds of formula wherein X is H, amino, C 1-4 alkyl or C 1-4 alkylthio, n is 2 to 5 and R is H, C 1-4 alkyl aryl aralkyl or benzoyl are prepared by reaction of an amine of Formula II with an isocyanate RNCS or with CS 2 then an amine RNH 2 and compound where R is benzoyl may be hydrolysed to compounds where R is H. Amines of Formula II above are prepared (a) by reaction of 1-bromo-7-phthalimidoheptan-2-one and formamide followed by hydrolysis and chromatography or (b) by reduction of the nitrile which may be obtained by reaction of sodium cyanide and the appropriate halide. N - [3 - (4(5) - imidazolyl)propyl] - dithiocarbamic acid and its methyl ester are prepared from the amine by reaction with CS 2 and methylation.
