Abstract
1,263,498. Valves. SKINNER PRECISION INDUSTRIES Inc. 19 May, 1969 [31 May, 1968], No. 25321/69. Heading F2V. Admission of fluid pressure to chamber 86 to depress diaphragm 76 opens a pilot valve 66 to vent a control chamber 26 to atmosphere at 40. Inlet fluid pressure acting on the closure member 54 moves it off its seat to connect inlet 30 and outlet 34. Closure of the pilot valve, on release of pressure from chamber 86, allows inlet fluid pressure to build-up in control chamber 26 through passage 64 and since it is acting on a larger area than the effective area of the closure member it seats the closure member. The outlet is connected to atmosphere via passage 36 in valve closed position. A spring 88 may bias the pilot valve closed. In modifications the pilot valve is electromagnetically actuated, actuated by a push-button and tilted by fluid pressure flow acting on its stem. The pilot and main valves may be normally open or closed.
