Abstract

1,253,314. Printing apparatus. ENHAM VILLAGE CENTRE. 3 Aug., 1970 [26 Sept., 1969], No. 47403/69. Heading B6C. A machine for printing on the pages of books comprises a reciprocable marking device, moved towards and away from the pages to be printed on by a fluid pressure cylinder, and switching means which reverse the direction of movement, when the pressure within the cylinder reaches a predetermined value. Printing is, therefore, carried out with the same impression pressure irrespective of the thickness of the book beneath the marking device. Preferably the marking device is a number printer, and is moved pneumatically.
