Abstract

1,242,254. Masted lift trucks. CROWN CONTROLS CORP. 15 Oct., 1968 [18 Dec., 1967], No. 48793/68. Heading B8H. The movable mast section of a lift truck mast assembly is so guided by rollers that it is progressively tilted rearwardly relatively to the fixed mast section as it is raised. As shown, the fixed uprights 22 are provided, adjacent their upper ends, with guide rollers 40 engaging flanges of the movable uprights 25, which are provided adjacent their lower ends with guide rollers 45 engaging flanges of the fixed uprights. The diameters of the rollers 40, 45 and/or the location of their axes of rotation are so selected that, in the lowered position of the mast, the clearance C1 between the flanges of the mast members adjacent the upper rollers 40 is less than the clearance C2 between these flanges adjacent the lower rollers 45. As the movable mast section is raised, the clearances C1, C2 remain the same and the mast section tilts progressively.
