Abstract

1,187,877. Pipe joints. EISENBAU ALBERT ZIEFLE K.G. 25 July, 1968, No. 35586/68. Heading F2G. An insulating pipe joint consists of a resilient insulating piece 1 gripped between the flared ends 2<SP>1</SP>, 3<SP>1</SP> of pipes 2, 3 pressed together by a sleeve 4 surrounded by a compressing ring 7, the sleeve 4 being segmented to accommodate webs 6 which prevent rotation of the parts. The insulator 1 may be of synthetic rubber and may be supported against radial collapse by a reinforcing ring (5) of metal or plastics round its inner periphery (Fig. 3, not shown). The securing sleeve 4 consists of three sectors, Fig. 6, each internally shaped to clamp the outer surfaces of the flared pipe-ends and made of rigid plastics. The ring 7 may be a steel tube having edges 7<SP>1</SP> at each end turned in to grip chamfered edges 4<SP>11</SP> of the sleeve, or (Fig. 2, not shown), further insulating plastics is moulded in at each end (8) to secure and seal the joint.
