Abstract

A sanitary garment comprises a stretchable pantie 1 of knitted or netted material having a waterproof crutch lining 7 and pockets 10, 11 of waterproof material at each end of the lining for receiving the ends of an absorbent pad 14, each pocket being welded to the lining along a pair of seams 15<SP>1</SP>, 15<SP>11</SP>, 16<SP>1</SP>, 16<SP>11</SP> longitudinal to the crutch to define a gap for receiving the ends of the pad. Each pocket section comprises at least along the edges 12, 13 facing each other, a folded double layer of waterproof material (Figures 4, 5 and 6). The pocket sections may be covered with runproof knitted material which is also welded to the crutch lining along the welded seams and of which the edges facing one another are cut edges of the material. Each welded seam is formed by spaced parallel lines joined at both ends by semicircular lines. The lining and pocket sections may be made of polyethylene.
