Abstract

1,177,705. Injection moulding. ROLINX Ltd. 25 July, 1968 [4 Aug., 1967], No. 35974/67. Heading B5A. In an injection moulding process in which opposed surfaces 10, 11 of a mould cavity form part of relatively movable mould components 1, 4 the latter are, initially, held apart against a mould closing force in such a position that the volume of the mould cavity is increased by an amount of up to the volume shrinkage of the moulding material which occurs on cooling; when the cavity is filled the means holding the components apart against the closing force is released so that the latter acts on the material during its shrinkage. The components may be held apart during the injection by ram driven wedges 14, and the moulding surface of the component 4 may be surrounded by a ring 7 held against the component 1 by a ram. When the cavity is filled the wedges are removed and the component 4 slides relative the ring towards component 1.
