Abstract

[Also in Division G2] The glass cylinder surrounding a xenon discharge flash tube is (i) made of infra-red absorbing glass or (ii) made of non-infra-red absorbing glass and coated with a layer which reflects infra-red radiation and transmits visible light e.g. gold 130 Š thick and tin dioxide 3À2 Š thick or (iii) made of non-infra-red absorbing glass and half coated with a layer which reflects visible light but transmits infra-red radiation. Such lamps are used in thermographic processes (see Division G2), and preferably have an energy of 0À5 Watt sec per sq. cm.
