Abstract

1,110,310. Feeding endless conveyers. MASCHINENFABRIK BUCKAU R. WOLF A.G. 10 Oct., 1966 [9 Oct., 1965], No. 45267/66. Heading B8A. [Also in Divisions F1 and F4] A device for feeding pulpy material into cavities of an endless honeycomb conveyer 4 which subsequently passes through a hot re - circulatory gas atmosphere in a housing, comprises a circular feed trough 29 housing a pressure worm 32 which feeds material to a rectangular cross-sectioned pressure chamber 31, the ascending run of the conveyer 4 passing the outlet of the chamber 31 to receive material therefrom. Material is fed to the worm 32 through an aperture 30. The worm shaft 33 is driven by a motor 36, the speed of which is controlled from a metering device 42, 43 which measures the material pressure in the pressure chamber 31. Cover-plates 27 adjacent the pressure chamber outlet and resiliently mounted cover-plate 28 on the remote side of the conveyer 4 facilitate feeding the material into the conveyer cavities. In the embodiment of Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown) the pressure chamber outlet is formed in the side of the feed trough and the worm shaft is extended into this area and carries smoothing vanes to carry the material to the far end of the pressure chamber. In the embodiment of Figs. 6-7 (not shown) the outlet from the pressure chamber is formed in the side thereof and the opposite side of the chamber is tapered towards the outlet to give the chamber a wedged form.
