Abstract
1,105,532. Evaporators, flash type; desalination of water. AMERICAN MACHINE & FOUNDRY CO. 29 March, 1966 [5 April, 1965], No. 14338/65. Heading B1B. Liquid-to-be distilled, e.g. salt water, is introduced through a venturi-shaped inlet 22 into a chamber 10 wherein the liquid forms a sheet of particles and some of the liquid and flashes into vapour, the remainder of the liquid impinging against the wall 14 which is 3 to 6 feet from the front wall 12 of the chamber. The vapours pass through mesh filter 34 and opening 32 to a condenser. Several chambers may be arranged in series, the liquid flowing from one chamber to the next through opening 24.
