Abstract

1,075,449. Tractor power lift mechanisms. MASSEY-FERGUSON Inc. Dec. 27, 1963, No. 51089/63. Heading A1P. A tractor power lift mechanism has three feed back linkages 51, 52 and 53 which provide respectively draft control, position control and control of the pressure existing in the ram 25, each of the controls being effective to override the other in conditioning the control valve 41 to discharge fluid from the ram. Draft control. Compressions or tensions in the upper link 14 compress spring 67 whereby plunger 69 operates rod 60 to pivot a lever 61 which moves a control lever 54 of the valve 41 the piston 44 of which is biased by the spring 50 into the supply position. A draft-setting lever 75 operates, via a rod 79, a cam 76 which moves in between the adjacent ends of the levers 61 and 54. Position control. Hand lever 90 operating in the range E-D operates rod 93 to move a cam 89 which operates control lever 54 of the valve 41. As the lift links move follow-up is provided by a rod 85 engaging a cam 87 on the rock shaft 20. Pressure control. Pressure fluid from the pump 40 is fed through conduit 47 to the ram 25 and also through conduit 107 to a pressure control valve 103 which includes a valve element 105 biased by a spring 106 adjustable by a cam 115 operated by the hand lever 90 in the range F-J. When the pressure fluid overcomes the spring bias, fluid passes along conduit 104 to operate a piston 101 and hence a rod 100 which moves the control lever 54 to operate the control valve 41 whereby pressure in the system is decreased until valve 103 cuts off the supply of fluid to the piston 101 and the valve ,41 is then returned to the neutral position by its spring 50. A modified form of the control valve 41, the lever 54 and the pressure control apparatus is described and is the same as that described in Specification 1,046,621. An auxiliary outlet supplying, for example, a ram controlling weight transfer from a trailer to the tractor can be connected to the control system by closing valve 42 and opening valve 43.
