Abstract

1,068,669. Lockable sliders for sliding clasp fasteners; locks. YOSHIDA KOGYO KABUSHIKI KAISHA. Oct. 1, 1964 [Jan. 22, 1964], No. 40066/64. Headings E2A and E2S. A lockable slider for a sliding clasp fastener comprises a slider body 10 having formed therein an upwardly opening forward bore 1 and an upwardly opening rearward recess 2 in communication with each other, a cylindrical cam element 5 rotatably received in the bore having a slanted annular cam face 18 at its inner end and a key hole 8 in its upper portion, a cover plate 3 closing the bore and provided with a key hole 6 in registration with the key hole 8, the cover plate also closing the recess 2, a lever member 12 pivotally mounted in the recess 2 with its forward end in engagement with the cam face 18, resilient means for biasing the rearward end of the member 12 downwardly, and a locking pawl member 13 formed on the rearward end of the member 12 for co-operation with the fastener chains of the sliding clasp fastener when the rearward end of the member 12 has been moved to the downward limit of its movement in which position the forward end of the member 12 is held in engagement with the lowest point 18<SP>2</SP> of the cam face 18 by force of the resilient means. As shown the resilient means comprises a U-shaped leaf spring 15, and the lever 12 is pivoted on a pin 14 received in grooves 19 is the walls of the slider body. Ribs 9 on the cover plate and co-operating grooves 7 in the cam element 5 formed on diametrically opposite sides of the key holes 6 and 8 are urged into engagement by a spring 11 to prevent accidental rotation of the element 5 from the locking or releasing position. In other embodiments the resilient means is a plate spring integral with the cover plate or the lever member and the pivot means is provided by a co-operating rib and recess on the lever member and in the slider body or vice versa.
