Abstract

1,045,390. Beet-harvesters. C. J. STEKETEE. Sept. 21, 1965, No. 40278/65. Heading A1F. In a beet-harvester, of the kind having pairs of reciprocating forks 6 downwardly directed to engage one on each side of each beet-row, the legs 5 of each fork are journalled on an eccentric or crank 2 carried by a driven shaft 1, the eccentrics being so driven, out of phase, and the legs of the forks being so guided in the frame that the free ends of the forks move rearwardly during the lower part of their path (i.e. oppositely to the direction of travel). The shaft is carried in brackets 3 depending from the main frame 4 of the machine. Apertured plates 11 are adjustably mounted on the brackets 3 to guide the rear ends of the legs. The shaft 1 is driven by a belt or chain from the output-shaft of a gearbox 14, on the frame, which is connected to the power take-off of a towing tractor.
