Abstract
630,812. Harvesting root-crops. INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO. OF GREAT BRITAIN, Ltd. (International Harvester Co.). July 22, 1947, No. 19613. [Class 6(iii)], [Also in Group XXX] A truck, for association with tractormounted beet-harvesting apparatus, comprises a hopper-like body 13, the upper part of which is spanned by an endless conveyer belt 49 which receives the crop from an elevator 43 on the towing tractor 31 and is swingable into an inoperative position so that the crop may fall directly into the truck. The conveyer, which is driven from a road wheel 11 by gearing 70 and a chain drive 62, is mounted on a frame 44 having arms 50 pivoted to a shaft 52 on the truck frame. The frame 44 is urged by springs 55 into a tilted position, on the release of a spring-catch, Fig. 4 (not shown), which retains it horizontally. Operators stand on platforms 73 and 73a to separate the crops from debris which is then discharged over the rear of the belt 49. The truck is unloaded by an endless elevator 23 forming its base and -one of its sides. The elevator is driven, through chains 38 and 42, from the tractor power take-off.
