Abstract
Description
INJECTEUR DE CARBURANT DANS UN MOTEUR DIESEL ET MOTEUR DIESEL POURVU DEFUEL INJECTOR IN A DIESEL ENGINE AND DIESEL ENGINE PROVIDED WITH
TELS INJECTEURS.SUCH INJECTORS.
DESCRIPTIONDESCRIPTION
The subject of this invention is a diesel engine fuel injector, as well as diesel engines provided with such injectors. In diesel engines, the injection of fuel usually takes place via injectors mounted in the cylinder head, provided with a circular and flat surface and an injection nozzle which stands in the middle of the range. support. The range of each injector is based on a surface of the cylinder head and the nozzle extends below through an opening of the cylinder head and communicates with the combustion chamber. In some engines, the assembly is of the kind called common rail, where the injectors are arranged in alignment and powered by a single feed device. The injectors are housed in a recess of the cylinder head and held on a seat surface at the bottom, which they touch by the bearing surfaces, by means of fork-pressing levers, clamps or other means. A joint that can consist of a copper washer is interposed between the bearing surface of the injectors and the seat on the cylinder head to limit the combustion gas leakage around the nozzles. This provision is, however, likely to be improved, especially as it appears quite often errors in the mounting of the engine, where sealing washers are forgotten or inadvertently replaced by others, so that the seal is then compromised. The object of the invention is therefore to improve the sealing of the injectors by means of a better design of the sealing device, while facilitating the mounting of the injectors. According to the invention, the sealing washer is replaced by a sealing layer established by covering the bearing surface, and this sealing layer is an integral part of the injector by being united to it by a solid connection which can be a solid solution between the materials of the injector and the layer, a weld, a hoop or a bonding. The sealed connection obtained is of better quality and the number of parts of the engine is reduced. The invention also relates to certain engines where this kind of injectors is used. The invention will now be described by means of a preferred embodiment of the invention and referring to Figures 1 and 2, which show an injector arrangement and an enlargement illustrating the invention better. In the figures, the injector bears the general reference 1 and comprises an injection body 2 pressed into a bore 3 of a cylinder head 4 of the diesel engine (partially shown here, the remainder not being affected by the invention) . Other similar injectors not shown are placed in alignment thereof perpendicularly to the plane of the figure, and fed by a common rail (system commonly called "common rail"). The injector 1 further comprises a fuel injection nozzle 5 in a combustion chamber 6 underlying the cylinder head 4 and which passes through a bore 7 of the cylinder head 4. A lever 8 is supported by a forked end on the cylinder head 4. injection body 2 and the opposite end on a bearing 9 of the cylinder head 4. A ring 10 surrounds it at an intermediate portion, and a screw 11 is engaged through the ring 10 and ends in a tapping of the cylinder head 4: the tightening of the screw 11 thus moves the ring 10 towards the cylinder head 4 and approaches the screw the lever 8 of the injector 1 so as to press on it. The invention also works with any other injector weaning system. The injector body 2 comprises a bearing surface 12 directed towards a seat surface 13 at the bottom of the rail 3 and which extends around the injection nozzle 5, which stands under it. Here, the bearing surface 12 is covered with a sealing layer 14 made of copper or other malleable material, resistant to the heat of the combustion gases and which is in direct contact with the seat surface 13. sealing member 14 is united to the bearing surface 12 by a solid connection 15 which may be a solid solution of the copper and the steel constituting the injector body 2.
The integration of the sealing element (the sealing layer 14 replacing a washer seal) to the injector 1 itself simplifies assembly and avoids the possibility of error. In addition, it will be noted that the solid bond 15 forms a circular barrier to gas leakage by eliminating any clearance between the injector body 2 and the sealing element, which reduces the leakage that could remain despite the application of the clamping force. Other solid bonds ensuring the union of the sealing element and the injector body 2 on their natural contact surfaces, or at least one around them, would have the same beneficial effects on the sealing and mounting ; there may be mentioned bonding, shrinking (adjustment without play) on the injection nozzle 5 or welding.
