Abstract

The device is automatically switched in when a photodetector mounted in the optical path of the normal headlamps indicates that there is insufficient light being emitted while the headlamp activate switch is closed. The emergency light is connected to the vehicle's battery by normally open contacts on a relay. The coil of this relay is supplied through a normally closed contact on a second relay which is energised while the headlamps are working normally. A three position switch allows the emergency lamp to be turned on manually, or automatically by a photoresistor, or to be turned off. The device can be used for motorcycles as well as for motor cars.

Description

The present invention relates to the safety of motorcyclists mainly and, also of motorists in the field of road lighting by automatic ignition, due to the accidental extinction of the headlight (s) of an auxiliary headlight, which can be an additional long headlight. range or anti-fog, which exists on many vehicles.

There is a process allowing a motorbike to automatically switch the supply of the burnt out filament from the headlight bulb to the other filament, for example to switch from headlight to gt code vice versa. The process is effective because it does not work if:
Both filaments are toasted
power is cut (fuse, wire)
the headlight or bulb is broken by gravel
the automatic switching system is damaged.

The present invention avoids these drawbacks, except if the vehicle battery is out of service, but in this case, there is no more backup possible.

Even if the device object of the invention is destroyed, the auxiliary headlight comes on
The device of this invention comprises (plate 1/2, big. 1) a photoresist cell (CPR) illuminated by the headlight lamp (CPV). A current, coming from the generator of the vehicle passing through the cell exits a relay (A), controlling the power relay (RP). The closing-opening movement of the relay (A) is obtained by the variation of the cell resistance (CPR) in inverse ratio to its illumination.

Un inversuer (I) permet trois cas d'utilisation.
The device which is the subject of the invention operates in the following manner:
A reverse (I) allows three use cases. In all cases the headlight contact (CP) is on.

Inverseur (I) sur (1):
Inverter (I) on (1):
The cell (CPR) being lit, the relay (A) is oriented and comes to work (T) The power relay (RP) is at rest (P), the auxiliary headlight (PLP) is off.

If for any reason, the cell is no longer lit it raises very resistant, the relay (A) is no longer energized, it comes to rest (R), exits the relay (RP) which comes to work (T) and the headlight (PLP) comes on.

Inverseur (1) en (2) :
Conduite avec phare snti-brouillard ou longu-portée.
Inverter (1) into (2):
Driving with snti-fog or long-range headlight.

a) Position "phare
a) Headlight position
Relays (A) and (B) are off, the headlight (PLP) is on
b) Position "code""
The relay (3) is exited and comes into work (T). The relay (d), connected again to the cell (CPR) brings the device 8 back to the situation of case n 1. In the event of a code failure, the cell (CPR) in the dark cuts off the excitation of the relay (A ) and the headlight (BLP) comes on.

Inverseur (I) sur (3)
Inverter (I) on (3)
The relay (A) is still on and the headlight (PLP) can no longer turn on. This position is used, for example, when parked.

Resistance (R) limits the intensity in the cell (CPR)
The device which is the subject of the invention can be used in all cases where permanent lighting is compulsory. However there is a very fable interruption due to the movement of the relay.

This device can be particularly used for lighting, on the road at night, of a motor car and especially for that of a motorcycle which had only one headlight.

The realization is done on a printed circuit (Pl. 1/2 Fig. 2) carrying two miniaturized relays and a photoresist cell,
The device is fixed to the headlight optics (Pl. 2) by means of lugs.

A 5 m / m diameter hole above the lamp lets the light from the filament of the headlight bulb pass, and illuminates the cell.

Cette technique permet un montage et un démontage aisés A plug-in contactor connects the montege to the vehicle or installation network. This technique allows easy assembly and disassembly
